Serve Through Discipleship

Share Your Faith With Our Children & Youth

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is hands-on religious formation for children, based on the work of Maria Montessori, a devout Roman Catholic. The goal of CGS is to nurture and foster the young child’s relationship with Jesus by sharing His life, His Parables, His Teachings, and His action in the Liturgy/Mass. Children meet in small group classes that are developmentally age-appropriate. Each “atrium” (classroom) is filled with hands-on materials relating to the Bible, the Sacraments, and the Mass. Children work at their own pace with well-trained catechists who offer presentations to the children that help them enjoy God’s presence and gifts and fall more deeply in love with God.

We invite you to consider joining our team as a catechist or an assistant. To learn more, please contact the Children's Discipleship Lead, Shelly Buchan.

About Core Team

Our Core Team is an amazing group of adults who are passionate about leading teens to Meet, Know, Love, & Serve Christ. They are what make our ministries successful and growing. They realize that they do not have all the answers to all the questions, but that we are all on a journey called life and they want to help guide teens on this journey. As a Core Team, we gather monthly for Upper Rooms to fill our cups so we can continue to pour out into teens.

We invite you to consider teaching our middle schoolers and teens!

About Lake Country Life Teen

At Lake Country Life Teen, our mission is to invite young people to meet, know, love and serve Christ. We believe that the typical “CCD” or “religious education” provided at most parishes, while helpful and formative, often does not meet a young person’s thirst for an encounter with the Person of Jesus Christ.  We strive to provide the opportunity for young people to meet, know, love and serve Christ through our simple discipleship process. This process includes a bunch of fun and engaging Eucharistic-centered relational ministries.

Areas of Ministry

EDGE: Middle School Ministry that will meet Sundays 4:30 -6:00 PM

Life Teen: High School Ministry that will meet Sundays 7:00-8:30 PM

Confirmation: Small group ministry walking Juniors in high school as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation

Adults

The Bereavement Ministry is responsible for providing services for and working in conjunction with funerals at St. Charles. Depending on the size or other constituents of the Mass, the Bereavement Ministry helps congregants in a time of loss by providing worship aids, ushers, tissues and water. After the funeral, members of the Bereavement Ministry follow up with families and provide grief services. If you are interested in becoming involved in the Bereavement Ministry or wish for more information, please contact the Parish Office at 262-367-0800 or by email at parish@stcharleshartland.org.

Our Bereavement Ministry also sponsors Grieving With Great Hope, a five-week grief support workshop using a video on-demand format. It offers a prayerful, practical, and personal approach for anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one. If you have lost a spouse, a child (including pregnancy loss), a grandchild, a parent, another family member or a friend, you are invited to attend. You may sign up and/or request information any time here.

Small Groups offer men, women, young adults, and couples an opportunity to authentically seek Jesus in small faith-sharing communities. These Small Groups are made up of 8-12 people who meet regularly throughout the Lake Country area to pray, discuss Scripture, and walk with one another in our faith journey. We currently have over forty small groups!.
