Middle School Grades at St. Charles
6th - 8th Grade
St. Charles Parish School provides a Catholic education that enriches the spiritual, intellectual, social, moral, physical, and personal knowledge of students and guides them in the deepening of their relationship with Jesus Christ and living out their faith in the word.
Students are challenged to reach their personal potential and respond in service to others. Families in collaboration with our school and parish share in this educational ministry entrusted to us by Christ.
Curriculum
Our middle school is departmentalized, and students move between classrooms to switch classes throughout the day. All students study mathematics, reading, writing, science, social studies and religion. Students have two options for math class: a grade-level track and an accelerated track. Students on the accelerated track are eligible to enroll in Geometry during 8th grade. This course is available through a collaboration with Catholic Memorial High School. Students in middle school develop critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving skills. Students participate in a multitude of immersive learning where they create, present and critique their own learning. Such projects include a wax museum, companion books, socratic seminars, science fair experiments, creating roller coasters, and proposing original bills to the principal to be made into “St. Charles laws.” Most importantly, students engage with all content through a Catholic lens. They develop habits of daily prayer and reflection.
