Care & Lay Ministries

St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic-based volunteer lay organization that provides spiritual, financial, and material assistance to people in need in Hartland and the surrounding areas. Special emphasis is placed on personal, one-on-one charitable service through home visits. Provided aid includes rent, utilities, food, clothes, and household goods, as well as referral to other services, agencies, or professional services.

Last year, St. Charles’ St. Vincent de Paul Conference members made 100 home visits, an increase of 27% over the previous year, and serving 285 needy clients. Members completed a total of more than 5,550 hours of volunteer service that included 403 hospital, 40 prison and 687 eldercare visits. These hours were also spent volunteering at the SVdP thrift stores, participating at the District Council ministries and servicing the St. Charles Food Pantry. Each year, donations to SVdP tend to exceed $80,000, which is nearly entirely returned back to the community.  Less than 1% of donations are spent on administrative costs. Generous donations from St. Charles parishioners in the St. Vincent de Paul poor boxes along with Mass collections, and donations through the mail make it possible to help the needy in this area.

Outreach Services Team

St. Charles Outreach Services Team ministers to both local Wisconsin communities and abroad, organizing events and programs that bring together volunteers of all ages to engage in projects that better the living, learning, and general condition of all! Through events such as the monthly Bread of Life Community Meal, the seasonal gift and clothing drives, and grander projects such as funding and building a new chapel for the church community of La Sagrada Familia in the Dominican Republic, there are many ways to become involved. For more information about specific events or to become involved, please contact Terri Blazek, Outreach Services Team Chairperson, at   or 262-367-7608.

Opportunities to become involved as a volunteer to help those of the St. Charles Parish community include becoming involved in ministries such as the Meals to the Homebound, the Hospitality Ministry, or by volunteering at seasonal church events such as Fall Fest. For more information about service opportunities at St. Charles Parish, please call the Parish Office at 262-367-0800.
